How do I get married at Evangel?
You must first contact our Wedding Coordinator, Mrs. Bonnie Carlson by filling out our Wedding request form here. In doing so, you and she will consider the date and time for your wedding ceremony. She will inform you of Evangel Pentecostal Assembly’s Wedding Policy and Procedures as well as the overall requirements for being married in Evangel and/or by one of Evangel’s pastors
We do require that all couples must complete our premarital counselling program, “Marriage Foundations”. however you and your spouse may be excempt if you have previously participated in an equivalent program, course or seminar. To register, you must do so with Pastor Larry Lindoff here.
How far in advance can I book the church?
You may book the church approximately one year in advance subject to other bookings.
What are the costs?
There are a number of variables that determine the cost of the wedding booking. For a more detailed fee schedule, please complete the Wedding request form here and our wedding coordinator will be in touch with you.
What decorations are allowed?
Our wedding coordinator, Bonnie Carlson, will work with you to let you know what works best. Bonnie will also let you know of what decorations Evangel can make available for you to use as well.
Do I have to use a pastor from Evangel?
No, but the officiating minister and credentials must be acceptable to Evangel.
Why do I need to take a PreMarital Course?
Research has taught us that it is important to ask the right questions before getting married. Asking these questions will help to discover some practical answers and contribute to an enjoyable, successful, lifelong marriage.
What Is the Marriage Foundations Course all about?
The course is loosley based off of the award winning approach of Dr.'s Les and Leslie Parrott. Their course, Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, has become the gold standard for helping engaged and newlywed couples build a solid foundation for lifelong love.
What Do We Do In The Course?
Using textbook, video, practical excercises and fun, you will be taught and challenged to address seven questions over a five week to seven period.
Is there a cost to the pre-marital counselling course?
As of July 1, 2009, the cost of the program is $125. This covers a workbook, text, two exercise manuals and other counselling materials. It also pays for the administration and scoring of the nationally standardized 'PREPARE' report.
Who does the premarital counselling?
Your premarital counselling will be done with one of Evangel’s pastors, who have received premarital training, As well, these pastors have been married for at least ten years themselves and exemplify Christ-centered marriages.
You will normally work with the same pastor-counsellor for the duration of your premarital counselling. Although these pastor-counsellors are trained in the area of premarital counselling, they are not professional, licensed counsellors. They have chosen premarital counselling as one of their ministries at Evangel Pentecostal Assembly. One of the goals of the ministry is to provide all premarital couples an opportunity to establish a mentoring relationship with their pastor-counsellor, thus encouraging their present and future marital growth.
What do we talk about in the counselling sessions?
You will discuss many subjects throughout your time together. These subjects will include “Have You Faced the Myths of Marriage Honesty?”; “Can You Identify Your Love Style?”; “Have You Developed the Habit of Happiness?”; ”Can You Say What You Mean and Understand What You Hear?”; “Have You Bridged the Gender Gap?”; “Do You Know How to Fight a Good Fight?”; “Are You and Your Partner Soul Mates?”
Your relationship strengths will be discussed, as well as, areas that need growth.
Homework assignments are also given prior to each session to enhance your understanding [and promote discussion] of the material.
